˜ "My dream is to live a happy, fulfilled life. I think I've learned that life is the journey of finding that. I used to think that I had to find that answer and from there, the rest of my life would be easy, but life is the journey of constantly achieving that. Every day is work toward it in process and constantly reminding myself to stay present and doing the little things that help me stay there and stay balanced.
I think we all want to be happy, but how we all get there is different and I think that is a beautiful process.
I've found that the travel that I've done so far has, each time, taught me so much about myself and then helped me grow into a new, better version of myself.
About a year ago I travelled for three months through the WWOOF program. I worked on organic farms in exchange for room and board. I started in Montana, then I went to Rhode Island and back to California. Three months, three different farms and it was a completely different lifestyle. I was out of the city, I was living in tents, I wasn't using typical showers, using outhouses for bathrooms; complete 180. It was what I needed at the time. I was questioning my life and what I wanted. I thought maybe I could be a farmer. Turns out I can absolutely not be a farmer for the rest of my life, however, I will forever cherish those three months. I would say the hardest three months I've ever had thus far. I learned so much about myself and what I want and another way of life that's so beautiful. The people that live it are so pure, honest, hardworking and happy in the simplest way. That totally shaped my life since the past year and I think will continue to do so." ˜
That must have been an unbelievable experience. For me as well, travel is the best way to discover and build on new aspects of yourself. It's like peak curiosity. Follow Ryan on Instagram: @ryan_lagasse
