˜ "In the context of This Bar Saves Lives, the dream is to end the world of severe malnutrition. Everyone that I work with, it's our collective dream, but for me specifically since I work in the marketing department, it's spreading the word and getting people motivated to do something with their everyday decisions and change the world in a really simple way.
In January we went to Haiti actually as a team. We worked with this non-profit called Second Mile Haiti and we supplied all of their Plumpy'Nut, which is basically this highly packed nutritional packet. It's like fortified peanut butter. It's medicine, which is what we give. So we supply their whole clinic with all the Plumpy'Nut that they need for all the kids that they help.
It was incredible. We met families who were there and families whose children had recovered and they shared their story. It was really powerful. They all sat in front of us and held the picture that they took the first day they came in. They were so malnourished, it's heartbreaking, and then you see this child who is fully recovered, happy and running around in front of you and it's the same kid. It's amazing.
I definitely think I am a more empathetic person because of this. I think more about others and I definitely do consciously choose companies that have a built in mission. I obviously can't speak for all my coworkers, but I would think the same. I've worked with them for three and a half years now and I have just seen all of us grow and become better people." ˜
So cool to learn more about companies that not only create amazing products, but also work with a purpose to make the world a better place. I definitely have noticed this trend of social enterprise that is a more seamless way to create change. Support This Bar Saves Lives and check out their Instagram: @ThisBar
