˜ "My dream is to travel and be on some sort of screen to take you guys on a trip. At first I wanted a travel show. An entertainment or news based person is more journalism, but when it comes to Travel Channel, HGTV or Cooking Channel, they are actually looking for real life people. I think I was maybe coming at it the wrong way so I shifted my focus from hosting to what I actually really liked, which is the travel and food part of it and that then opened me up as a person to realize you really just have to be yourself.
I got extremely close to some TV shows. Development deals, networking and stuff and then I realized I have zero control over these people. That dream job depends on some person, in some office and I don't know who that is. It's frustrating to be in that situation, wanting something so bad and thinking about it all the time for years. Finally I realize the dynamic and I'm like, 'Wait. I'm giving all of my power and future to someone else to decide if I can do this or not? Screw this.'
I thought to myself, 'How could I cut my expenses and make the most amount of content?' That's how the bus idea came about. Bringing it back to my dream, essentially daily vlogging is the same process, I just happen to do everything. The day to day is exactly what I wanted to do and with this larger project, I'm going to be doing it 365 days straight. I put myself in a position where because I'm living out of this bus, I can afford to do this. I don't have rent anymore. My rent is diesel.
I think the most important thing for someone who wants to realize their dream is if you never make the first step forward, no one will support you because you're not actually doing it yet. It's kind of counter intuitive, but you've got to at least prove that you're serious and then people will jump on board and rally around you. Whatever it is, you just have to do it and trust that you will get better. Things will work out and if for some reason they don't, at least you're happy. That's the most important thing. You could have a job and be miserable or you can be broke and happy. I'd rather be happy because being miserable is no fun. At least you're chasing your dreams." ˜
