˜ "I have a lot of dreams, but basically what it all comes down to is being the best version of myself. A huge thing for me is, the only competition that is relevant in my life is am I a better person today than I was yesterday?
The very first trip I took after moving to California was up to Yosemite. I had a girlfriend living there at the time and a bunch of other girlfriends from college had spring break coming up so about six or eight of us kind of converged on Yosemite National Park. It literally changed my life. I drove up after a shift at work, got there at two in the morning, there was a new moon, which means no light whatsoever, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had never experienced West coast nature before or the extremes of the environment out here because it's rolling green hills back in the North East mostly. So I woke up the next morning and took a walk outside and my jaw hit the floor. The second I walked out of my cabin and I look up, there's just this sheet of rock that just goes up and up and up and up and up, until it passes the trees and I still can't see the top. I had never seen anything like that in my entire life. I was like, 'Oh my God, this is real.' Within a couple hundred feet I could see Yosemite Falls and then I take another walk and it's El Cap and it's Half Dome. It really changed me in that moment. That was just an amazing trip, but after that realizing that that kind of experience was only a car's drive away; I was hooked. After that, every chance I got I was traveling somewhere else and finding places on Instagram that was however many hours away that I could just pack up my car and go to." ˜
